At its Brand Night held in Wuhu, China, as part of the 2026 Global User Summit, Chery gave the world premiere of the TIGGO 7 and TIGGO X7. The Tiggo 7 is a comfort-oriented family SUV with enlarged dimensions; the Tiggo X7, as the first series-production model of the brand's new TIGGO X series, sets an ambitious bar for off-road capability with its hybrid and plug-in hybrid options and a 4x4 alternative. The Türkiye version list and prices of the two models have not yet been announced; the arrival schedule for Türkiye also awaits the brand's next announcements.

A Brand Night in Wuhu: The Common Denominator of the Two Models: Family
The launch did not follow the usual format of a press conference; it took the stage at the Wuhu Grand Theatre as part of the 2026 Chery Global User Summit. The event's theme was set as "Together. For Family"; also on stage as brand ambassadors were Peter Crouch and Edwin van der Sar. Chery management emphasized that the "For Family" approach goes beyond being a slogan and is the fundamental measure of product development, reminding that the brand has reached more than 4.55 million customers worldwide. It is possible to read this emphasis as marketing language; but for someone who has been following this industry for over thirty years, the real message lies in the positioning of the two models.
Because the Tiggo 7 and the Tiggo X7 now represent two different characters of the same family. In the past, Chinese manufacturers' lineups consisted of SUVs that were copies of one another; the picture displayed in Wuhu is entirely different. The Tiggo 7, with its "The Refined Family SUV" concept, is a softly styled, comfort-oriented C-SUV; the Tiggo X7, under the name "Family Comfort Exploration SUV," leans toward exploration and off-road territory with its angular design, flat hood, headlight placement, and upright body. The X7's width of 1,970 mm clearly distinguishes it from the Tiggo 7.
What Are the Technical Specifications of the New TIGGO 7?
Introduced as the global version, the new TIGGO 7 comes with a length of 4,600 mm, a width of 1,870 mm, and a height of 1,710 mm; the wheelbase is 2,700 mm. On the power side, the engine claims a maximum output of 115 kW and torque of 220 Nm, and it boasts a thermal efficiency of 45.79%; it was announced that gasoline and hybrid options will be offered. The body with its diamond-patterned front grille is said to have a drag coefficient reduced to as low as 0.315. These are details that can be considered above the class average; thermal efficiency is an engineering indicator that finds tangible expression on the consumption side.
Family-focused cabin: 505-liter trunk and massaging seats
The Tiggo 7's main claim comes together in the cabin. Standard cargo volume reaches 505 liters; the rear seats fold in a 40:20:40 ratio, and when the seats are folded down, an approximately 2-meter flat loading area is created. The rear backrests can be adjusted to 25 and 30-degree angles. The front seats feature eight-point massage, electric leg support, heating and ventilation; the cushions, extended by 36 mm from the previous generation to reach 536 mm, show that long-distance ergonomics were taken seriously.
On the safety side, it is announced that more than 80% of the body is made of high-strength steel, more than 20 active safety and driver assistance functions are offered, and the global five-star safety standard is targeted. Parking systems and highway and urban navigation-assisted driving functions are planned to be offered depending on the market. This last sentence is important: it is stated upfront that the feature set may vary from market to market.
TIGGO X7: The First Product of the X Series with HEV, PHEV and 4x4 Options

The TIGGO X7 is the model that carries the technical weight of the presentation. A length of 4,636 mm, a width of 1,970 mm and a height of 1,788 mm; the wheelbase is the same as the Tiggo 7, 2,700 mm. On the powertrain side, hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) options will be offered, along with front-wheel drive and 4x4 alternatives. The basic engine figures are shared with the Tiggo 7: 115 kW of power, 220 Nm of torque, and 45.79% thermal efficiency. The presentation material did not include a concrete figure for the electric range of the PHEV versions; this gap must be acknowledged.
Off-road capability and drive modes
The X7's off-road seriousness shows itself in the figures: a water wading capability of up to 700 mm, a ground clearance of over 200 mm, a towing capacity of up to 1,500 kg and an 11-meter turning radius. The 540° panoramic camera system is the kind of hardware that proves useful on tight off-road passages. In the 3-6-1 multi-drive mode layout, alongside ECO, NORMAL and SPORT positions, six off-road modes - snow, mud, sand, mountain, rock and water wading - are offered along with a kickdown function.
Safety and cabin
The most striking item in the safety equipment is the system that tries to keep the vehicle stable in the event of a tire blowout across a speed range of 40-140 km/h. It is stated that over 75% of the body uses high-strength steel, that 6-9 airbags are offered depending on the equipment level, and that Level 2 driver assistance, smart parking and occupant monitoring functions are included. In the cabin, an approach focused on temperature, humidity, air quality, cleanliness and quietness stands out; CO2 monitoring and AI-supported preferences are signs of modernization. The rear seats also fold in a 40:20:40 ratio here.
What Is the Difference Between the New Generation and the Tiggo 7 Sold in Türkiye?
The New TIGGO 7 currently sold in Türkiye does not exactly match the version unveiled at the global premiere, and this difference needs to be known. In the Türkiye version, the 1.6 TGDI turbo petrol engine produces 145 HP of power and 275 Nm of torque; there are 4x2 and 4x4 options with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch DCT. The dimensions are also different: 4,553 mm length, 1,862 mm width, 1,696 mm height, 2,670 mm wheelbase, 484-liter trunk. The global new generation's 4,600 mm length and trunk reaching up to 505 liters point to a different version definition; differences in engine and equipment specifications across markets are not unusual in this class.
| Specification | Global New TIGGO 7 | TIGGO 7 in Türkiye |
|---|---|---|
| Length | 4,600 mm | 4,553 mm |
| Width | 1,870 mm | 1,862 mm |
| Wheelbase | 2,700 mm | 2,670 mm |
| Engine | 115 kW / 220 Nm (petrol, hybrid) | 1.6 TGDI, 145 HP / 275 Nm |
| Trunk | 505 lt | 484 lt |
| 0-100 km/h | Not announced | 9.4 s (4x2) / 11.5 s (4x4) |
The Tiggo 7 in Türkiye is rich on the equipment side: a 24.6" combined display, 540° panoramic surround view, a 1.1 m² opening panoramic glass roof, a Sony sound system, wireless CarPlay, and a standard HUD on AWD versions - all of these are on the list. The five-star Euro NCAP rating, 19 ADAS functions, and 7-8 airbags also show seriousness. On the other hand, the fluctuation on the pricing side is striking: when the model arrived in Türkiye, the starting price was 2,199,000 TL, while in April the Prestige 4x2 was at the 2,135,000 TL level; in the October dealer list, the same version is listed from 2,672,000 TL, while the Prestige 4x4 is 2,720,000 TL. In August, there was a campaign for the Comfort 4x2 with a cash discount of up to 150,000 TL and 6-month 0% interest at 300,000 TL. This picture is in line with the overall acceleration profile of the market.
How Should the Türkiye Market Receive This Launch?
Reading the context honestly is essential. The Türkiye automobile and light commercial vehicle market shrank by 13.39% in the first nine months of 2026. Sales of China-origin brands fell by 39.6% in the first half of the year, dropping to 28,602 units, with market share falling to 5.1%. Chery is one of the names holding up relatively well in this overall picture: In February, it announced it had raised its market share to 3.70%, and in January it achieved sales charts surpassing the New TIGGO8, the best-selling model in the D-SUV segment. On the global front, the picture is also strong: In June, the group sold 256,612 vehicles with an annual increase of 9.8%; in September it reached 292,000 units and increased its exports by 51%; the total for the first nine months of the year is 2,206,789 units.
So the launch is being made on top of strong global momentum but into a shrinking Turkish market. The place of the two models in the Türkiye lineup depends largely on this: If the X7 arrives in hybrid versions, it could find a meaningful position below the Tiggo 8 and alongside the Tiggo 7 in this market, where the tax advantage is relatively valuable. The engine choice for future versions is also of close interest to current Tiggo 7 owners in Türkiye; the difference between the global 115 kW / 220 Nm figures and the local 145 HP / 275 Nm 1.6 TGDI reflects a choice that has not yet been clarified as to which engine will be sold in which market.
When Will the New TIGGO 7 and TIGGO X7 Arrive in Türkiye?
The question that unfortunately cannot be answered most clearly is the most anticipated one: the arrival date in Türkiye, engine options and sale prices depend on the brand's next announcements; no official version list or price list has been disclosed at this time. Even whether the X7 will come to Türkiye at all remains an open question mark in the local automotive press. Likewise, the range figures of the HEV and PHEV versions were not shared in the launch materials; and no official data supports the certainty claims circulating on social media. This uncertainty needs to be recorded as it is, without exaggerating it.
Still, market experience teaches us this: the period between a world premiere in Wuhu and a Türkiye launch is usually not long. The distributor and service network Chery has built in Türkiye over the past two years has the structure to allow the new models to be quickly put on sale. What will be critical is which versions arrive and whether the pricing remains competitive in a shrinking market. Given the Tiggo 7's current equipment level in Türkiye, it is reasonable to expect the new generation to arrive here with well-equipped packages as well; but this should be kept at the level of an expectation for now.
In conclusion, the two models introduced in Wuhu reorganize Chery's lineup with a clear logic: the Tiggo 7 is the door dedicated to comfort, the Tiggo X7 the door dedicated to capability. On the Türkiye side, all we have for now are technical specifications and question marks; the picture will become clear when the official version and price announcements arrive.
