In the used car market, what determines the price is not whether the vehicle has been well maintained, but whether that maintenance can be proven with documentation; a full service history can raise the value by up to 20 percent.
Habits That Preserve Resale Value
Deniz Erkan16 October 2026

Vehicle ownership is shaped not on the day of sale, but on every day leading up to the day of sale. In the used car market, the thing that affects the price most is not that a car has been well maintained, but that its good maintenance can be proven …

While a major service bill for two cars in the same segment can be 12,000 TL for one and exceed 25,000 TL for the other, because it is not the car itself but the system that determines the price.
Hidden Costs That Inflate Your Maintenance Budget
Deniz Erkan14 October 2026

What really inflates a car's annual maintenance budget is not the figure on the invoice; it is the invisible factors that determine that figure: parts availability, transmission type, how you use the car, and which service shop you take it to. The 60…

Repair marks on the chassis and structural areas are a real red flag; a single painted panel, on the other hand, is a matter for the negotiation table.
How to Read an Expertise Report? Red Flags and Overlooked Details
Deniz Erkan13 October 2026

An inspection report is an evaluation document that objectively reveals the technical condition of a used vehicle at the time of sale; it should be thought of as a photograph of the vehicle on that day. Reading the report means being able to distingu…

Short trips of fifteen minutes taken several times a day quietly accumulate fatigue in the engine as if thousands of kilometers had been driven.
Why Does Short-Distance Driving Age the Engine Prematurely?
Deniz Erkan12 October 2026

Short-distance use breaks two things in the engine at once: the oil never reaching its full operating temperature, and accumulated moisture plus fuel residue mixing into the oil with every cold start. The result is an engine with low mileage but inte…

Being stingy with brakes and steering is the most expensive way to save; aftermarket filters are fine, but original parts for safety-critical components are the smart choice.
Original or Aftermarket? The Differences Beyond Price in Parts Selection
Deniz Erkan12 October 2026

An original part is the exact identical part produced or approved by the vehicle manufacturer and used on the assembly line, whereas an aftermarket part is the product of independent companies not affiliated with these manufacturers. Original parts a…

A vehicle maintenance schedule by mileage ensures that every item, from oil changes to the timing belt, is done at the correct interval.
From Oil to Timing Belt: A Kilometer-by-Kilometer Maintenance Schedule Guide
Deniz Erkan11 October 2026

A vehicle maintenance schedule is a planned list showing at which mileage and time intervals each maintenance item should be performed, from engine oil to the timing belt, from brake pads to spark plugs. When properly structured, it functions as a ro…

What Should You Pay Attention to with High-Mileage Vehicles?
Deniz Erkan11 October 2026

An internal combustion engine that has passed 200,000 kilometers has not reached the end of its design life; with proper maintenance, it has reached a second life that can extend to 250,000-300,000 km, and in some cases up to 500,000 km. What changes…

One of the most important habits my profession as a mechanical engineer has given me is looking not only at a system's outcome, but also at how and why it works. My interest in automobiles is also fueled by this perspective. For me, a car is not just design, performance, or comfort; it is a holistic system where mechanics, electronics, software, and engineering come together.

Over time, I combined my engineering background with software development. The intersection of these two fields has allowed me to look at modern automobiles from a more integrated perspective. I follow the world of automobiles, from engines and suspension to driver assistance systems and software technologies, through the eyes of both an engineer and a car enthusiast.

My aim at Otomobilgi.com is to explain technical subjects in a language that preserves engineering accuracy and keeps curiosity about cars alive, without drowning them in unnecessary complexity. Because for me, a good car is not merely beautiful or fast; it is a special work that conveys design, technology, and driving character as a whole.
