Where to Start Karting in Türkiye? Tracks, Licenses, and Clubs

To start karting in Türkiye, we recommend first trying rental karts at a hobby track, then joining a club or TOSFED's talent programs, and only at that point getting a license and moving up to racing karts. In other words, the order is: rent, enjoy, learn, get a license, race. In this guide, I walk you through each of those steps with concrete examples.
Highlights
- FIA-backed TOSFED Next Talent program ages 12-16 offers free talent scouting to young people between these ages.
- In Istanbul alone there are 11 facilities licensed hobby tracks across the city by city; but before using the list, it's worth calling the track to confirm.
- MOTUL 2026 Türkiye Karting Championship is run at tracks such as Bursa, Kocaeli, Tuzla, Cappadocia and Uşak.
- Türkiye's first night karting race on August 7-8, 2026 was held at the Cappadocia Motor Sports Complex.
- In licensed racing, the cost of the first season, according to international references, is in the range of roughly 8,000-10,000 USD band; there is a huge gap between it and hobby rental karting.
First Stop: Getting Comfortable at Rental Karting Tracks
The most beautiful thing about starting karting is this: you've actually already started, without buying anything yet. Going to any hobby track and driving a rental kart is the gateway to this sport. The common advice of karting schools around the world points in the same direction: before thinking about becoming a racer, take part in races with a rental kart and learn track logic, braking and the racing line there. This door is wide open in Türkiye as well; nearly every major city has at least one track, and most are packed with weekend crowds.
TOSFED's "Licensed Hobby Karting Tracks" list is the official map of this business. I can't go on without one warning: the list's validity dates mostly go back to the end of 2022, with some extending to mid-2023. In other words, we can't speak of perfect up-to-dateness. I really recommend you verify by phone or on social media before going to a track - waiting in front of a closed track is no fun at all.
Track Map City by City
If we summarize the facilities on the list by city, the table looks like this:
| City | Facilities |
|---|---|
| Istanbul | Akın, Beylerbeyi, FEVPark Dragos, Kırmızı, Leroz Lunapark, MAS, Olimpik, Sancak, Torium, Tuzla Karting, Ümitcan |
| Ankara | Altınpark Go-Kart, Bilkent Go-Kart, Go-Kart Center Nata Vega, Hipodrom Arena Hobby Karting Facility |
| Izmir | Balçova Karting |
| Bursa | Hız Karting |
| Antalya | Antalya Gokart |
| Eskişehir | ES-ES Karting |
| Kocaeli | Outlet Center and Gebze Karting |
| Other provinces | Balıkesir (Ekspress), Manisa, Muğla (Marmaris), Sakarya (Ada), Samsun (Anakent) |
Istanbul's track density is truly impressive; Olimpik Go Kart in Bağcılar even publishes track records and, by its own account, is Türkiye's largest karting track. Record hunting is also a nice motivation, by the way: while lapping the same track continuously with the same friends, improving your own lap lets you savor the part of it that's playful but close to serious.
Clubs: The Real Door into the Karting World
After spending a few months on the tracks, this question pops into your head: "Could I actually get serious about this?" The answer to that question lies hidden in the clubs. In Türkiye, karting clubs don't just organize races; they run everything from training to the training calendar, and their doors are wide open to beginners.
- Tuzla Motorsports Club (TMK): It organizes karting training at Tuzla Karting Park that anyone of any age can join. The track pays special attention to safe use by children, with vehicles suitable for every age group.
- Izmir Karting Sports Club: It takes part in national events and publishes the season calendar; the center in the Aegean region.
- Bursa Uludag Motor Sports Club (BUMOSK): It hosts the rounds of the Türkiye Karting Championship; the most natural address for experiencing the racing atmosphere in Bursa.
- KO-KART (Kocaeli Karting and Automobile Sports Club): It organizes races at the TOSFED Korfez Race Track.
Joining a club is like a university that offers you not just kart lessons, but one that shows you how race weekends go, how a team works, and how drivers compete against each other. When you enter the club environment, you'll notice that what you learned on the hobby track becomes twice as fast. A good club means a good mentor - and in this sport, a mentor is as important as the engine.
School Events and Free Talent Scouting
Now let's get to my favorite part. If you are between the ages of 12-16 (or your sibling at home is in that age range), the TOSFED Next Talent Project implemented with FIA support is just for you: this program is a talent scouting organization that young people can join for free. Talented driver candidates continue to be discovered this way in Bursa as well. A free weekend, a gas pedal, and perhaps the first spark of a career - worth a try, I'd say.
Another example: in the summer of 2025, TOSFED tried a youth qualifying-final model and organized qualifiers in 10 separate regions; the selected young people competed in the finals at Tuzla Karting Park. In the final, national karting athlete Bati Yildirim and MOTUL 2025 Senior category leader Onur Muldur mentored the participants. So this is not just a race; it's a learning experience that puts real drivers alongside young people.
As for camps: the "First Step to F1 Karting Training Camp" consists of six periods, and the IMK Karting training is conducted by a team led by Club Manager Naci Sualp. Another project competing in the Mini category is "25 Little Men": it is looking for 25 talented little drivers in the Mini category of the Türkiye Karting Championship. These projects are both affordable and fun ways to step into the world of licensing - all you need to do to follow most of them is not to miss the announcements of the club and federation you're interested in.
How to Get a License? The Documents TOSFED Requires
If you want to race in karting, a racing license is a must, and that license is issued by TOSFED. The process is not as complicated as you might think, but it helps to know a few points. Athlete licenses, competitor licenses, and legal entity (such as team) licenses are handled in separate categories. License fees are also updated every season; the healthiest approach is to follow the current figures on the federation's relevant pages.
- An era of paying by credit card for online license transactions has begun; this way you can get your license without leaving home.
- A printed temporary license document, together with a health report, can be presented during administrative checks to gain entry to races. In other words, the health report is essential for this.
- Team Certificates and Brand licenses cannot be obtained online; for these, you need to apply directly to TOSFED's license unit.
There is also a program called "How Can I Become a Racer?"; for it, the age requirement is 18-28, being a citizen of Türkiye or the TRNC, holding a driver's license, having no criminal record, and being at least a secondary education graduate. So if you have grown up now and are asking "am I too late?", the answer is no - this program is just right for you. I also recommend opening and reading the Rulebook published for each season at least once; the sporting and administrative regulations are there, and it is truly a lifesaver.
From Rental Kart to Racing Kart: Step-by-Step Transition

Worldwide there is an almost standardized roadmap for this transition, and I think it works quite well in Türkiye too. It works like this, in order:
- Rent, don't buy. In the first stage, instead of buying your own kart, you gain experience with rental karts; this both protects your wallet and clarifies what you want.
- Join league races. Most tracks organize leagues or race series; team spirit and a regular racing rhythm begin here.
- Race in the rental championship class. Championships run with rental vehicles but with serious rules teach racing discipline in real life.
- Buy your first own kart. By now you know what you are doing; owning your own kart also makes it easier to choose the right class.
- Run a full season. Completing a season from start to finish is the real learning process itself in this sport.
In international examples, the first season's total costs - including the kart, safety equipment, tire sets, consumables, and tools - are said to be around 10,000 USD; another reference figure is at least 8,000 USD for regional karting in a single season. An important note: these are figures from the US market; we do not have current cost data specific to Türkiye. But the main message is clear: there is a significant cost jump between hobby rental and licensed racing, and you need to be prepared for it in advance. Abroad, in some countries, entry-level classes can even be raced with rental karts; for example, in England, ages 6-8 there is a Bambino class and a license test, while the Clubman class is offered as an affordable entry point into club racing. In Australia too, club finder vehicles and starter programs like "Junior Sprockets" welcome newcomers. So worldwide, this transition is a generously supported process.
2026 Season: Why Now Is a Good Time to Take the Stage?
The Türkiye karting scene has never been this lively. The calendar of the MOTUL 2026 Türkiye Karting Championship hosts rounds at circuits such as Bursa, Kocaeli (Izmit Bay), Tuzla, Cappadocia and Usak. The first round in Bursa April 11-12, 2026 was run at the Bursa BBSB Karting Circuit, and the Kocaeli round was held the same weekend at the TOSFED Korfez Race Circuit. The Cappadocia round August 7-8, 2026 took place at the Cappadocia Motor Sports Complex in Nevsehir - and that weekend also saw Türkiye's first night karting race; under night lights, between 15:00 and 22:00. The existence of this complex, introduced as Türkiye's newest motorsport facility, shows that the country is investing seriously in its infrastructure. Toward the end of the season, round 6 was run at Tuzla Karting Park on October 3-4, and round 7 on October 24. In addition, round 2 of the Rotax Max Challenge Türkiye took place on September 20, 2026.
The team front is also lively: BOM Karting opened its 2026 season at the Izmit Bay Circuit; Demir Sagim, Oguz Marangoz and Kaan Ballik are racing in the Senior class, Suleyman Cem Karakomur and Efe Ayhan in the Junior class, and their drivers in the Mini category as well. Dynamic Racing Team, one of the standout teams of the past five years, entered 2026 with Petrol Ofisi as its main sponsor. Thanks to the cooperation between HT Spor and Tuzla Karting Park, championship broadcasts are also live on screen - so now you can watch karting races from your couch, or if you prefer, go to the circuit and experience it from the grandstand.
At What Age Should You Start? The Clear Answer to the Question
The answer depends on the level of karting you imagine, and that's actually good news: at every age, a door is open. Hobby tracks serve every age group; to start with a rental kart, you probably just need to be beyond the minimum age limit. Looking at licensed racing, FIA-backed free talent scouting is ages 12-16 available. Talent scouting projects in the Mini category also target the youngest drivers. There is also a semi-professional racer program for adults covering the 18-28 age range. So at eight, sixteen, or twenty-five, you can start this sport; different doors, same track.
My advice is simple: no matter your age, go to a hobby track on your first free weekend, drive a rental kart, and listen to yourself. If, when you leave the pit lane, your mind is still on the throttle, stop by a club and sign up for a talent scouting session that weekend. The license, the team, and the kart will come on their own - the first spark is in your hands.
Final Word: You Take the First Lap
Karting is, in motorsport, the section with as much trouble recruiting people as a master's student; but it's also the most fun. With the number of tracks in Türkiye, the variety of clubs, free talent programs, and a championship now even broadcast on television, there has never been a better time to start. All you have to do is set aside a weekend and put the hammer down at the nearest track. The rest - training, clubs, a license, maybe even a race grid one day - will follow on its own. Now it's time to put on your helmet; see you on the track!
