Familiar Name, New Identity: Why a Separate Platform?
The first electric version in C-Class history is technologically distinct from previous models sold under the EQ badge (such as the EQE). The new W520 generation sits on a newly developed platform built entirely for electric power and shares technology with the new electric GLC. Mercedes CEO Ola Källenius's assessment is clear: "The all-new electric C-Class is redefining mid-size electric vehicles."
An important detail: The gasoline and diesel C-Class is not being discontinued. Internal combustion, plug-in hybrid and electric versions will continue to be sold side by side. In other words, rather than forcing buyers into a single powertrain, Mercedes is offering three separate paths - a strategy still widespread in the premium segment.
The all-new electric C-Class is redefining the mid-size segment for electric vehicles.
What the Dimensions Say: E-Class Size Despite the C Name
Speaking in technical terms, this car pushes the traditional boundaries of the "C" class. Length is 4,883 mm, width is 1,892 mm. Approximately 13 cm longer than the gasoline C-Class and approaching the E-Class in size. This is exactly what sparks the naming debate: there is a gap between the brand's classic letter hierarchy and the actual physical dimensions.
The gap is not only in exterior dimensions. The wheelbase has grown to 2,962 mm - 97 mm longer than the gasoline model. Since the battery is mounted under the floor, the interior benefits directly: 12 mm of extra headroom in the front, 11 mm at the rear with the standard panoramic glass roof, and 12 mm of extra legroom for the front passenger have been measured. The trunk offers 470 liters; there is also a small frunk under the hood that opens by pressing the emblem.
The aerodynamics side is one of the most interesting aspects from an engineering standpoint: The drag coefficient starts at 0.22 Cd. According to the ratio provided by Mercedes, a reduction of 0.01 Cd increases range by 2.5% on long journeys - considering that a large portion of the power drawn from the battery at high highway speeds is spent fighting aerodynamic drag, it is clear that this coefficient is one of the most influential items in the range table.
Range and Charging: How Realistic Is the Official 709 km Figure?
The battery is a 94 kWh lithium-ion unit. According to the official data from Mercedes-Benz Türkiye, the electric range is 709 km WLTP; The international figure for the C 400 4MATIC goes up to 762 km. The explanation for the difference is simple: the WLTP value varies depending on hardware, wheels, and option selection, and independent tests measure a band of 680-727 km. So the catalog figure should be treated as the most optimistic reading of the most efficient configuration.
On the charging side, an 800-volt architecture comes into play. In DC fast charging, the battery can take up to 330 kW, adding 325 km of WLTP range in a 10-minute stop. Official Türkiye data says the 10-80% range is completed in 22 minutes. The standard AC charger is 11 kW; the 22 kW onboard charger unit is optional. Mercedes also claims that a target of over 1,000 km (Berlin-Paris distance, 1,054 km) on a single charging stop is possible - a good example of how the combination of range and charging speed changes route planning.

Performance: Launch Version C 400 4MATIC AMG
The version coming to Türkiye is the C 400 4MATIC AMG. This dual-motor, all-wheel-drive launch configuration produces 360 kW (490 hp) of power and 800 Nm of torque with a 0-100 km/h time of about 4 seconds. With these figures, it positions itself as the most powerful C-Class in history that does not carry the AMG badge. Considering its roughly 2.5-ton mass, this acceleration can be read as the motor-side payoff of the 800-volt architecture.
Top speed is limited to 210 km/h - not a meaningful constraint in this class, a sensible choice for preserving range. On the suspension side, AIRMATIC air suspension and rear-axle steering are optional. An interesting detail is the "predictive damping" feature: the system uses road data collected by other Mercedes vehicles traveling the same roads to adjust the suspension before entering a corner or rough patch. In short, we are talking about a damper that learns from the vehicles ahead.
Mercedes has announced that rear-wheel-drive and more efficient versions will arrive in 2027, with an expected WLTP range of about 800 km. More is expected from the lighter RWD versions in terms of driving enjoyment as well - in British test reviews, the current all-wheel-drive version can be read as "superbly comfortable but not the most passionate driving machine."
Interior and MBUX: A Single Panel Beneath the Glass

At the center of the cabin's technological load is the MBUX Hyperscreen. This optional 39.1-inch panel is a single floating screen spanning the entire dashboard and illuminated by more than 1,000 LEDs; it combines the instrument cluster, media, and passenger screens under one pane of glass. In standard equipment there is a 10.3-inch instrument display and a 14-inch infotainment screen; the Superscreen option adds the 14-inch passenger screen. The front panel is surrounded by an illuminated frame with 1,050 LEDs and the Mercedes star.
On the software side, there's the new MB.OS operating system and the AI-powered MBUX Virtual Assistant. Mercedes' fourth-generation infotainment is the first system to combine ChatGPT-4o, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini AI. The "Hey Mercedes" voice assistant has been tested to detect English accents seamlessly, and the Sound Visualisation feature syncs music with the ambient lighting. The Sky Control panoramic glass roof, meanwhile, comes with 162 lighting elements that can block out light.
The comfort features are comprehensive too: "Softtorino" leather is standard, and the Burmester 4D Surround system has speakers integrated into the seats; massaging, heated, and ventilated seats are offered on the top trim. Mercedes also claims this is the first sedan certified by the Vegan Society. A practical engineering note: the new automatic climate control heats up twice as fast as combustion models on a 20-minute drive at -7°C. There are downsides too - very few physical buttons and limited rear visibility.
Where It Stands in the Türkiye Market: A Sedan in a Sea of SUVs
In the first seven months of 2026, the best-selling EVs in Türkiye include the Togg T10X, Togg T10F, KGM Torres EVX, MINI Countryman Electric, Tesla Model Y, and BYD Sealion. The look of the list is, in a word, SUV-heavy. There are sedans like the Tesla Model 3, but the electric sedan offerings from premium German brands are very thin; Audi doesn't even have a direct electric sedan equivalent, with its rival models in the SUV segment like the Q4 e-tron. This gap is the main positioning space for the electric C-Class in Türkiye.
On the pricing side, the picture is becoming clear: the price of the C 400 4MATIC AMG launched for sale in Türkiye is 6,360,000 TL. In the same month's listings, the BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport was priced at 6,819,500 TL; meaning Mercedes is entering below its new generation rival. A quick international comparison: in Europe the starting price is around 70,000 Euro, and in the UK it ranges from 57,995 to 70,995 pounds.
The rival map is short but clear: the upcoming BMW i3 (electric 3 Series, late 2026, with a claimed ~900 km range), BMW i4, Tesla Model 3, VW ID.7, and Lexus ES. Mercedes' 709-762 km range sits at the upper end of this group; however, BMW's ambitious range claim also gives pause to those considering waiting for the 2027 RWD version.
Sales Model with Online Store: A Mercedes Bought from a Screen, Not a Dealership
Another distinctive aspect of the electric C-Class's sale in Türkiye is the sales channel itself. Mercedes-Benz Türkiye has been running an official online sales model since 2023; in this system, which transforms the classic dealership function into an agency, customers can track stock and prices online. The brand also promotes and puts its electric models on sale through the Online Store. So a buyer wanting the electric C-Class, while test drives and delivery remain at the agencies, handles price negotiation, stock selection, and the ordering process directly through the digital channel.
This model has two practical consequences for buyers: First, price transparency - the list price is the same for all customers, with no room for negotiation. Second, it is possible to compare equipment combinations on screen and see their effect on WLTP range; since we already know that wheel size and options shift the range within the 680-727 km band, this turns into a direct purchase parameter.
Conclusion: Will Buyers Find It?
Technically, the picture is strong: 709 km of range, 10-80% charging in 22 minutes, 0.22 Cd aerodynamics, and a launch specification of 490 hp place it among the measurably best in its class. On the market side, however, there are two realities. First, the majority of electric demand in Türkiye is flowing toward SUVs; second, its direct sedan rivals have either not yet arrived or are limited. For this reason, the electric C-Class is not the favorite in a crowded race, but the early founder of a category in which few are competing. Audi has no sedan equivalent, the BMW i3 is on the way, and Mercedes is the first side to offer the complete package along with its Online Store. Given the existence of a specific audience that will buy a premium electric sedan, the question turns from "will it sell" to "who will grow this category first" - and for now, the answer is this 6,360,000 TL Mercedes.
