How Will Chery's European Plan, Which It Ignited in Paris, Affect the Türkiye Market

Chery announced at the 2026 Paris Motor Show that it aims to operate in 27 markets across Europe by 2027; this plan is a step significant enough to directly affect its pricing, model and investment strategy in the Türkiye market. On the other hand, while the brand's sales momentum in Türkiye is slowing, the future of the Samsun factory investment remains uncertain. In this article, we evaluate the growth plan announced in Paris, the electric models introduced, and their implications for Türkiye.

What does the European growth plan announced in Paris promise?
At the Paris Motor Show held on October 12-18, Chery showcased five models together: TIGGO 4 in both its 1.5T and HEV versions, TIGGO 7, TIGGO 8, TIGGO 9 CSH, and the fully electric CHERY Q. Behind the scenes of the show lies the strategy the brand introduced specifically for Europe. The Chinese manufacturer, which set out with a "For Family" vision on a global scale, condensed its EU-market-specific edition into three headings across the axes of space, safety and technology.
The numerical targets are clear. By the end of this year, Chery plans to reach approximately 100,000 families in 20 EU markets, including France, with 687 sales and service points. By 2027, this picture expands to 27 markets, 1,143 points, and 300,000 families. The brand, currently operating in 24 markets in Europe, is counting on significantly growing its EU journey, which it began in 2025, within two years. Looking at this with a seasoned eye, doubling the number of sales points is ambitious on paper; the real test is whether these points operate profitably.
At the show, the "In Europe, For Europe" approach and the after-sales service program called Chery Family Care were also introduced. From thirty years of experience, we know how critical after-sales infrastructure is for brands selling imported products in Europe; Chery's highlighting of this aspect with a dedicated program can be read as a move implying that Europe has trust issues on this front.
CHERY Q and TIGGO 4 HEV: What was unveiled in Europe?

CHERY Q, an electric gateway for small families
The CHERY Q is a fully electric city car positioned in the A0 segment and made its first public appearance in the EU market. Inside its 4.19-meter body, 41 kWh battery and a 121 hp electric motor have been fitted; the range figure is 400 km according to the NEDC cycle stated. It is a known fact that this cycle gives more optimistic results than real-world range, so it is wise to read the figure with caution. Adding a 70-liter front trunk alongside the 375-liter luggage compartment, and the V2L feature that allows the vehicle to supply electricity to external devices, are details that set it apart in the small segment. The target audience is those buying their first car, small families, and those looking for a second family car.
The European record of TIGGO 4 HEV and TIGGO 9 CSH
TIGGO 4 HEV combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with an electric motor and 224 hp of combined power. Its 4.32-meter body features a 12.3-inch dual screen and a 430-liter trunk. The fact that the first European sales point for the 1.5T version will be France shows which market the plan will start from.
As for the TIGGO 9 CSH, it had previously come up at a safety event held in Constanta, Romania at the end of September. In the test watched by more than 150 media representatives from 16 European countries, a 34.46 kWh high-voltage battery was submerged in a 3.5% salt water solution for 24 hours; it was announced that no corrosion, swelling or leakage was observed. It was also reported that the vehicle was driven over a 250 mm high obstacle at 14-15 km/h, and that no structural damage or electrolyte leakage occurred in the battery enclosure. To be honest here, these results are based on the manufacturer's own data and do not represent all independent safety assessments; the purchase decision should be weighed accordingly.
How do global sales figures show the power behind the plan?
There is a background showing that the targets announced in Paris are not empty promises. Chery's global exports in the first nine months of the year reached 1,551,178 units, recording a 65.6% increase and surpassing the entirety of the previous year. On the European side, in the first eight months, sales were reported in 24 markets with 234 thousand units sold and 193% growth recorded; more than 114 thousand of that number came from new energy vehicles.
In the global picture, the brand ranks ninth with a 4.4% share in car sales, and is within the top five with a 5.5% share in new energy vehicles. September alone reached 292 thousand units, and it also entered the Fortune Global 500 list at 383rd place with 41.8 billion dollars in revenue. In the past, Chinese brands used to bring to mind cheap and low-quality products; the fact that a manufacturer currently in ninth place is trying to weave its own sales network in Europe tells on its own how much the industry has changed.
Where does the Türkiye market stand for Chery?
Chery Otomobil Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. was founded in September 2022, and the brand entered Türkiye in March 2023 with the TIGGO 8 PRO and TIGGO 7 PRO. Today it works with 54 authorized dealers across seven regions. On the OMODA side the picture is more concrete: as of the end of July 2026, total sales in Türkiye reached 31,902, of which 30,470 came from the OMODA 5 alone. In the first half of 2026, the Chery group was in the leading position among Chinese brands with 19,313 units.
However, a decline lurks in the shadow of this picture. Across Türkiye, sales by Chinese brands fell 39.6% in the first half, dropping to 28,602 units, and their market share slipped to 5.1%. As of August, the share had fallen to 4.31%, and these brands' monthly volumes declined noticeably over the year. Moreover, some brands have abandoned the market: Hozon Meta, Lynk & Co and Seres withdrew from Türkiye in 2025, and DFSK and Leapmotor in 2026. Chery consolidating its position in Türkiye while expanding across 27 markets in Europe is becoming a necessity in this environment.
What does the price list show?
According to the October 2026 price list, the TIGGO 7 Prestige 4x2 1.6 TGDI 145 hp 7DCT is 2,672,000 TL, while the 4x4 version of the same equipment is 2,720,000 TL. In the September list, the TIGGO 8 Prestige stood at 2,920,000 TL, while the TIGGO 7 Comfort had risen to 2,220,000 TL with a 45,000 TL increase. Monthly price updates becoming such a routine is a dynamic very different from the lists we were accustomed to years ago, and it would come as no surprise if the cost pressure of the European operation is reflected in local pricing.
| Model | Power | Key features |
|---|---|---|
| CHERY Q | 121 hp electric motor | 41 kWh battery, 400 km NEDC range |
| TIGGO 4 HEV | 224 hp combined | 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine + electric motor |
| TIGGO 9 CSH | Plug-in hybrid SUV | 34.46 kWh battery, salt water immersion test |
| TIGGO 7 Prestige 4x2 | 1.6 TGDI 145 hp 7DCT | October 2026 price 2,672,000 TL |
What is the status of the Samsun factory investment?
Chery's production in Türkiye is the most uncertain item on the agenda. The factory investment planned for the Samsun Organized Industrial Zone has not reached a concrete stage since it came onto the agenda in March 2025. While the local press carried messages that the process was moving quickly, claims of a retreat coming through international agencies blurred the picture, and it is said that the United Kingdom alternative has recently been discussed. Türkiye's potential to be both a production base and a sales market is attractive on paper; but for that appeal to turn into the foundation of a factory, the process needs to become clear.
Could the recall process cast a shadow over European targets?
A formal recall decision covering the Chery, Omoda and Jaecoo brands of the Chery group was taken in February 2026. Any manufacturer expanding into Europe must manage recall processes quickly and transparently; European consumers are unforgiving on this point. In Türkiye, there are also consumer complaints about spare parts and service waiting times. The goal of expanding the sales network to 1,143 points also depends on resolving these kinds of waiting issues on the service side. The Family Care program announced in Paris can be said to be positioned as a response to this expectation in Europe, while a similar approach in Türkiye would reinforce the brand's local position.
How does this plan affect buyers in Türkiye?
There is no official announcement yet regarding the Türkiye launch of the CHERY Q and TIGGO 9, which were introduced in Paris; however, the arrival of the two models on the domestic market agenda has become a topic of intense demand on social media. In a market where competition in the small electric segment is heating up, the pricing of the CHERY Q will be a litmus test for the brand's Türkiye strategy. If the scale advantage of its operations in 27 European countries is positively reflected in Türkiye prices, it will strengthen Chery's hand; if costs remain high without scale, the rhythm of monthly price increases will continue. The clarification of the investment issue in Samsun remains on the table as the most critical variable for both the pricing and model strategy.
